A Northampton woman has been jailed for more than 11 years and two months for stabbing a young child.
Manna Begum, aged 25, of Monmouth Road, Spencer, was arrested, charged and remanded into custody in April 2016.
Begum initially denied the charges, however shortly before the September trial she pleaded guilty to.
Sentencing her to 11 years and two months imprisonment, Judge Timothy Smith said the victim’s injury could have been far worse.
DC Irene Clifton, who led the inquiry, said: “This was a very difficult investigation and the victim showed immense bravery and courage to speak out.
“I hope that, now justice has been done, they can rebuild their life and look forward to a happy future.”
