A Northampton singer who gained national TV exposure on ITV1’s X Factor says the TV programme has provided a big boost to his career.
Jamie Benkert, aged 24, made it through to the boot camp stage of the show and his first audition has been seen by more than a million people on YouTube.
Mr Benkert is now planning a gig at the Picturedrome in Northampton on November 7 when he will be performing with his own band and fellow X Factor contestant The Shures.
He said: “Because i have been on X Factor I have people coming from all over the country. Two girls said they are coming from Liverpool.
“I have been in London quite a lot recently and everywhere I go I do seem to still get recognised which is pretty cool.
“Even though the show decided to present me in a certain way - with the Olly Murs comparisons - overall, I do not regret going on at all.
“It has given me the chance to make a lot of new contacts and work with some really talented musicians.”
The Jamie Benkert gig will take place at The Picturedrome, Kettering Road, Northampton, at 8pm.
