A singer from Northampton is set to appear on an episode of Britain’s Got Talent on Sunday performing a duet with her boyfriend.

Sarah James, aged 28, who lives in East Hunsbury, and Kieran Sutcliffe, aged 26, will be shown on the hit ITV1 performing a rendition Love Changes Everything from the Andrew Lloyd-Webber musical Aspects of Love.

Ms James said it was a case of “third time lucky” for the pair as they had failed to get through to the live audition in front of judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon on two previous occasions.

She said: “The first thing you are aware of is that the buzzers are so loud when you are waiting to go on.

“My heart was racing but we just wanted to do our best. We felt it went really well although I always think that it could have gone even better.”

Ms James said she had been singing since she was eight years old and had appeared in the Chronicle & Echo 14 years ago when she won a competition to appear in a production of Fame in the West end.

The former Mereway Upper school pupil said she met Kieran four years ago when they were both working as singers at a hotel in Madeira.

Ms James said: “I feel in love with Kieran after I first heard him sing and then met him and found he was such a lovely guy.

“Our first kiss was when we were performing a version of Mamma Mia.

“I think our natural chemistry makes us sing stronger together. We help each other out on stage. If one of our voices is cracking then the other one sings louder.

“We tend to make people cry often when we sing together.”
