Northampton shop owner charged with selling legal highs to children

A shop owner in Northampton has been charged with selling legal highs to children.

James Johnstone, aged 58, runs a shop at The Drapery in the town centre has been charged after Northamptonshire Police were made aware he was selling intoxicating substances, commonly known as legal highs, from his shop.

An operation was set up in conjunction with Trading Standards to investigate, and as a result Johnstone has been charged with five counts of selling an intoxicating substance to a child under 18.

A police spokesman said inquiries were ongoing.
