Northampton people encouraged to stand for borough council elections in May

PEOPLE living in Northampton are being encouraged to stand in the forthcoming borough council election later this year.

Voters will go to the polls on Thursday, May 7 to elect someone to represent their area in Parliamentary, borough council and parish council elections.

In Northampton, three Parliamentary constituencies and 33 borough council wards will be up for grabs. In nine areas of the town there will also be parish council elections.

There is a special meeting at the Guildhall on Thursday, February 26 for anyone who is interested in standing as a candidate in the upcoming local elections.

A borough council spokesman said: “We can advise on what is involved in becoming a candidate and answer any questions about the electoral process.

“More information about standing as a candidate in either the general, borough council or parish council election is available on our website www.northampton.gov.uk/elections,” the spokesman added.
