Northampton park gets tidy up to prepare for Elf Door Hunt visitors

Over a dozen volunteers cleared the park of litter and also put in winter plants in the Rose Garden area.

Luisa Jepson, park coordinator said: “Despite the cold weather we had a good turn out of adults and children to help tidy up the park including some new volunteers.

“We want the park to be in pristine condition for Sunday the 10th when we have our Elf Door Hunt.

“The Elf door Hunt seems to be attracting a lot of attention as it is a first for Northampton and will keep children occupied for a couple of hours in the park.”

Isobel Thompson, a regular park volunteer, added: “The tidy ups are quite fun - my grandchildren often help and they enjoy being outdoors with others.

“There is a lot of satisfaction when we see Beckets Park is totally litter free”.

Sue Ward, Secretary of Buddies of Beckets (BOB), said: “This is just one of many regular litter picks BOB has conducted over the year.

“All the equipment is supplied by us and people seem genuinely pleased to help clear the park of litter.

“The young helpers are supervised by their carers and we have small sized jackets, gloves and litter pickers just for them.”

The Elf Door Hunt takes place from 11am–3pm on Sunday, December 10 in Beckets Park. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
