Two parents from Northampton have pleaded guilty to causing or allowing serious harm to their baby.

The man in his twenties and a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Northampton Crown Court on Friday.

The charge relates to a period between February 10 and April 16 last year when a baby boy suffered multiple fractures.

The pair have pleaded guilty to a charge that states “having been a person of the same household they caused serious harm or should have been aware of the risk of serious harm and should have protected him from that risk.”

Matthew Lowe, prosecuting, said: “This child suffered deliberate, not accidental, serious injuries.

“There were a number of incidents on a number of occasions.

“The prosecution cannot say which defendant is responsible for the injuries. There are contradictory accounts from the two defendants.”

The pair will be sentenced during a hearing at Northampton Crown Court next month.

The baby boy cannot be identified for legal reasons, which is why the media cannot report the names of his parents.
