Northampton nurseries urged to sign up for Barnardo's Big Toddle

Children's charity Barnardo's are inviting nurseries, child-minders and parents to register to take part in this year's animal themed Big Toddle.

Last year, toddlers in Northampton dressed up as pirates and donned eye patches as they completed half a mile to raise money for the UK’s most disadvantaged children and young people.

Nurseries in Northampton, raised £1,662 in 2015 having toddled last summer adding to the overall total raised in Northampton nurseries of £10,082 through Toddles.

Amanda Warrant, Barnardo’s fundraising manager, said: “We’re really grateful for the great support we’ve had from Northampton toddlers and their families over the years.

“The event is a lovely opportunity for everyone to enjoy themselves and help raise vital funds for vulnerable children at the same time.

Money raised goes to our work in the local area with children and young people, such as those who live in poverty or who have a disability.

She added: “This is also a really special year for the charity, as it’s our 150th year.

“We’re really excited so many people are taking part our animal theme Big Toddle, and we’re hoping more people will sign up to join in the fun.”

Barnardo’s Big Toddle in 2016 is sponsored by Aldi’s award-winning baby and toddler brand, Mamia.

Since the Big Toddle started in 1997 it has raised more than £14m for Barnardo’s.
