A mental health employee at a Northampton hospital has won a public services award during a national ceremony.

Lindsey Ambrose, of St Andrew’s Healthcare in Billing Road, was named ‘diversity champion’ for her role in improving the experiences and outcomes of patients and other people who use the charity’s mental healthcare services.

She was selected out of 600 nominees at The National Excellence in Diversity Awards ceremony in Manchester last night (Thursday, May 14).

Miss Ambrose said: “I felt tremendously fortunate to be shortlisted from over 600 entries. The nomination was put forward by a St Andrew’s volunteer who is a member of our central carers, families and friends group and a former colleague. It includes my work at St Andrew’s and previous roles at Northampton Borough Council, the University of Northampton and with the Law Society’s Trainee Solicitors Group of England and Wales.”

Lesley Boswell, director of nursing and quality at St Andrew’s, said: “Respect for the unique qualities of all our patients is at the centre of everything we do. We are all delighted about this well-deserved recognition for Lindsey’s tireless contribution to equality, diversity and human rights across the Charity and all her other remarkable activities.”
