Northampton Market Square pub will close in less than two weeks

The 'Moon on the Square' pub, owned by Wetherspoon, will close on March 19 and be put up for sale.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We can confirm that The Moon on the Square pub in Northampton will be closing on March 19.

“Wetherspoon will be putting the pub on the market.

“All staff will retain their jobs and be redeployed at other Wetherspoon pubs.

“We appreciate that customers a the pub will be disappointed with the decision. However, Wetherspoon has to make commercial decisions about its pubs and in this case it has decided to close the pub.”

The Moon on the Square, which is on the northern edge of Northampton Market Square, opened in 1996 following a pub conversion.
