Northampton man died after his car was involved in a collision with a bus

An elderly man who died in a fatal collision in London was from Northampton, police have revealed

John Paddick, 74, from Blackthorn, was killed when his Ford Fiesta was in collision with a route 189 bus in Templehof Avenue, Barnet at about 7.20pm on Wednesday, April 29.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found Mr Paddick. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place today (Tuesday) at Finchley Mortuary.

The Metropolitan Police said the bus driver stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made.

Two passengers who were on the bus at the time of the collision sustained minor injuries and both were taken to a north London hospital as a precaution.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw the silver Fiesta in the lead-up to the collision or those who witnessed the accident.

Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit based at Alperton are investigating.
