A Northampton motorist has denied driving dangerously after a four-year-old child was knocked over.

The 60-year-old driver, who lives off The Causeway in Billing, was charged with driving a Toyota Prius without due care and attention in the car park of Dover Court in St James in September last year.

Northampton Magistrates’ Court heard that he knocked down a child aged four-years-old.

Prosecuting, Kwok Wan, said that during an interview the defendant claimed “he made all the correct visual checks” before the accident.

The case was adjourned for the prosecution to collect more evidence, including three witnesses, and will come back to court later in the year.
