The Wheelchair Dance Sports Association (WDSA), in partnership with Northampton Leisure Trust and Northamptonshire Sport, is running a free Wheelchair Dance taster event at Duston Sports Centre on Saturday February 28 from noon to 3pm.
The taster session is open to anyone with a disability whether they are a wheelchair user or not, and their family, friends and carers regardless of age, or ability. It’is a great way to keep active, fit and have fun. There will be a chance to try out a variety of dances from Ballroom, Latin and Group dances and to see what this growing new sport is all about.
Graeme Wilson, disability development officer for Northamptonshire Sport, said of the event: “”It will provide a fun introduction to wheelchair Dance and some of the many styles that can be done in the sport, with the aim of setting up a group in Northamptonshire at which people can participate on a regular basis. We are very proud of the amount of sporting opportunities available for disabled people in the county and this will be another great addition to those.”
Patrick McGeough, business development director of WDSA, added: “We look forward to being part of the Have a GO event and showing that dance and dancesport can be open to all no matter what the ability. These sessions give us an opportunity to help individuals work together, be active and have fun which starts the building blocks to give individuals a choice in how they want to be active.”
There is no need to book to attend the taster session, people can just turn up on the day.
