A Northampton primary school marked the last day before the summer holidays by releasing 400 balloons.
St Gregory’s Catholic Primary School in Grange Road, The Arbours, let the pupils celebrate at an end of year mass this morning.
Headteacher Jon Davis said: “This celebration is dedicated to our pupils’ achievements from Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 2. We would like to share this good news with families, friends and our community.
“The children have achieved huge success this year and they are getting better and better.”
Teachers said the balloons also represent the aspirations for the children’s future and to mark the fact that its children know that “sky’s the limit.”
Notes were attached to the balloons asking that whoever finds them to email the details of where they have landed.
Deputy head Madeline Biggs said: “The way the wind was blowing we hope to get replies from Denmark.”
