A burglar from Northampton has been told to expect a long prison sentence after he admitted breaking into two properties in the county.

Matthew Harrison, aged 41, of Tarncroft, Northampton, appeared at Northampton Crown Court and pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary.

The court heard that Harrison broke into a house in Byron Street in Northampton and stole a Wii computer and a number of games.

The next day, Harrison broke into a house in Bedford Road, Yardley Hastings, and stole two laptops and a Swiss Army knife.

Harrison was told by Recorder Edward Hess he was likely to be given a prison sentence of at least two years as it was his fifth burglary offence.

He will be sentenced later this year.
