The 99p Stores shops in Northampton will be rebranded as Poundlands if a £55m takeover by the latter company goes ahead.
A deal has been agreed between Poundland and Swan Valley-based 99p Stores, which has 251 outlets, including several in Northamptonshire’s towns.
A spokeswoman said today that 99p stores “will be rebranded to Poundland over a period of time.”
The company refused to speculate on the future of the Swan Valley headquarters or the jobs based there.
The spokeswoman said: “It’s too soon to speculate about that given the acquisition has to have approval from the Competition and Markets Authority.”
