The tireless hard work and dedication of the sports men and women who are involved in local sports will be recognised at a special awards ceremony later this year.

Organised by Northampton Leisure Trust, the 2014 Sports Awards is now accepting nominations.

On Wednesday October 15 the awards will celebrate the people who go the extra mile in helping to make grass roots sports a fun and rewarding pastime for everyone who takes part. The awards are also a chance to recognise the sports teams and individuals who have achieved something special.

Ian Redfern, Managing Director of Northampton Leisure Trust, said: “The Sport Awards are a great opportunity to celebrate our town’s sporting role models and their achievements. Every week thousands of people participate in grass roots sports across Northampton. It is not just about the players, we also have officials, coaches, club organisers, dedicated parents and a huge number of other people who are giving their time to make sure games and events can take place.

“Through these awards we want to encourage people to nominate those who give their time to support and help others so they can be thanked for all their hard work.”
