Northampton couples who get engaged this Valentine’s Day can take advantage of the advice on a new website about where they can get wed in the county.

The new website, launched by Northamptonshire County Council, aims to be a one-stop-shop for anyone planning a ceremony.

The county council’s registration service, which conducts 2,300 ceremonies every year, will launch the website later this week.

County council cabinet member for customer and community services, Councillor Heather Smith, said: “The council’s website gets 23,000 hits a year from people looking for information about celebratory services so we are expecting the new website to be very popular.

“We are now hoping to attract lots of advertisers so that the website becomes the primary source of information for customers about ceremonies and suppliers in the county, as well as raising income for the council which can be spent on providing registration services.”

The website is not just for weddings, but also for anyone considering a civil partnership, renewal of vows, naming or citizenship ceremonies in Northamptonshire.

It will be funded by advertising and also includes a free advertising space for small, local businesses to help them get started.

To celebrate the launch of the website there is a 50 per cent discount on advertising rates for the first 30 businesses that advertise on the site.
