A new distribution and storage depot for Travis Perkins on the edge of Northampton is set for approval

Travis Perkins plc is building the Wickes depot on land called Milton Ham, just off junction 15a of the M1.

It will come before councillors at the Guildhall on Tuesday, with planning officers recommending that it goes ahead.

Previous plans for the site were opposed by West Hunsbury Parish Council, who were worried about pollution by slow-moving lorries and round-the-clock usage.

However, amendments have been made to a sound-proofing bund in the latest plans.

The building would have a footprint of approximately 46,000 square metres and a maximum height of 18 metres.

Although previous reports were that 300 jobs would be created, the plan says there will be 422 car parking spaces for staff 66 for HGV.

It represents a revival of plans by a different firm - featuring two warehouses on the same site - that were rejected in 2002 after attracting written complaints from more than 750 people.
