One of the UK’s largest Starbucks coffee houses is due to open in Northampton’s Market Square tomorrow.
The two storey cafe will trade seven days a week and employ 20 people in the building formerly occupied by recycled CD and DVD outlet That’s Entertainment.
Franchisee partner for the new Starbucks, Nadim Choudary, has also pledged that the new outlet will provide free drinks to Manna Langar, a soup kitchen run from the Brookside Hall Community Centre in Abington on the first Friday of each month.
Mr Choudary, son of former Conservative borough councillor Iftikhar, was a founding member of Manna Langar, which is soon to enter its fourth year.
The new Market Square Starbucks will be the first store opened by Mr Choudary’s Slurp Coffee Company, with a further Wellingborough site due to open in February.
The Northampton Starbucks will be open from 6am to 7pm every day.
Mr Choudary said: “It’s very exciting to be finally opening our doors here in Market Square, and we’re looking forward to ongoing work with the Brookside Hall Community centre, as well as welcoming new faces from across the area.”
Starbucks communications director for Europe, Simon Redfern, said: “We’re delighted to announce the opening of our new store in Northampton, offering a great place for locals to take a breather from their Christmas shopping. We’ll be working closely with the community, and the team are raring to go.”
