The new principal at Weston Favell Academy in Northampton says she aims to instil a “can-do” culture in pupils and teachers.

Rachel Steele, who has moved from her role as vice-principal at Brooke Weston Academy in Corby, has taken charge of the secondary school, which is sponsored by the Greenwood Dale Foundation Trust (GDFT).

Weston Favell has been without a permanent principal since March when Geraint Parry, who led the school out of special measures after two terms, resigned due to a need to be closer to his family in Manchester.

Mrs Steele, who started work on November 1, said: “I am immensely proud to be the principal of Weston Favell Academy. I am joining the academy at an exciting time in its development and aim to build upon the progress already made.

“I have high expectations of everyone and will embed an ethos of aspiration together with a ‘can-do’ culture throughout the academy.

“The atmosphere around the academy is focussed on learning.

“My immediate priorities are to enhance and improve the learning, progress and outcomes for all our students.”
