The construction of the new Premier Inn hotel in Northampton town centre is nearing completion ahead of its expected opening at the start of 2016.
The new hotel, which has 104 bedrooms, is situated near in the town’s Cultural Quarter near to the Royal & Derngate theatre.
Premier Inn hopes construction can be completed in November this year and to have the hotel operational by Christmas.
The new Premier Inn will stand just over 18 metres tall on the southern side, and a little more than 15 metres in height opposite the Derngate theatre entrance.
John Bates, Head of Acquisitions (South) for Premier Inn, said: “We are delighted with the progress on our 104-bedroom Premier Inn at Albion Place in Northampton.
“The new hotel will bring around £7m in investment and 35 new year-round jobs to the local area. We look forward to opening our doors to customers in early 2016.”
Northampton Borough Council leader, Councillor Mary Markham, said: “Our Cultural Quarter is shaping up to be the envy of the East Midlands, and we expect high levels of visitor interest.
“The Royal & Derngate, Errol Flynn Filmhouse and 78 Derngate are all popular attractions and the development of our Vulcan Works creative business hub will build on that success.
“With the University of Northampton’s new campus and Northamptonshire County Council’s Project Angel office development being built nearby, the area is set to thrive.”
