Supermarket giant, Waitrose, has said it hopes to open a new store in Northampton within the next 18 months.
The company was given planning permission to build a new store next to the Northampton Garden Centre in Newport Pagnell Road, Wootton, in July last year.
Following delays in the development, the company has said it now hopes to start work soon.
A spokesman for the firm said: “Our aim is to start on site as soon as possible within the next six months, with the aim of opening in the next year to 18 months.
“We are looking forward to becoming part of the community and making a positive contribution to the area for many years to come.”
The development is expected to create about 120 new jobs.
One of the reasons for the delay on the scheme is changes to the plans made by Waitrose.
Alterations include changes to the front of the new building, a new landscaping scheme for the area, a change to the service road for the new store, a revised car park layout and an alteration to the store’s opening times.
Because of these changes, the plans will have to go back to Northampton Borough Council’s planning committee next week for approval.
The alterations are expected to be approved by the council committee.
A report which will be seen by councillors on Tuesday evening said: “It is considered that the proposed revisions are acceptable and unlikely to create a detrimental impact on highway safety, visual amenity and neighbour amenity.”
A change in planned opening hours would see the store open from 7am until 11pm from Monday to Friday and from 10am until 6pm on Sundays.
The service road which runs from Newport Pagnell Road to the back of the new store would be lengthened.
The number of parking spaces would be increased from 429 to 468.
Some windows from the original plan would be removed,
