New manager takes over at Daventry pub

The Plume of Feathers in Daventry’s Market Square is now run by Deborah Krause, who has 25 years’ experience in the pub industry.

The pub was raided by police looking for drugs on the evening of Friday May 20 who arrested four customers and warned a fourth for possession of drugs.

Owner Jonathan Spencer said: “Following the recent incident at the Plume of Feathers we sat down with the police and reviewed the situation.

“We’ve now brought in a new management team under Deborah.

“We’re also currently fitting CCTV throughout the pub – due to the age of the building and how long it has been a public house, it’s licence was written up before CCTV was invented, so we never had to have it.

“We’ve also joined Daventry’s PubWatch scheme, and the radio network so we can talk to other pubs and venues in the town to get and give warnings about problem customers.

“Our zero-tolerance drugs policy, which we’ve always had and includes lifetime bans, is now clearly displayed around the pub.

“We’ve also decided to stop people standing out the front of the pub smoking and drinking, as this was causing a problem for pedestrians and people coming into the building. We’re asking people to smoke in the rear courtyard, so we’ve been sprucing that up as well. And the whole of the pub has been deep cleaned as well.

“Already we’re seeing old customers returning so hopefully the word is getting out that the Plume of Feathers is a nice, clean and safe place for people to come to.”
