Renovation works began on the 16th Century Welsh House building in August, after Grosvenor Centre owners legal & General granted a 15-year lease on the site.

On October 5, the former family home is set to open as the Zapato Lounge, the latest in a string of successful Loungers brand bars to open across the UK.

Now venue bosses are seeking to hire 50 new staff from waitresses to chefs and cocktail experts.

Visitors to the Zapato lounge can expect a “homely and relaxed café/bar atmosphere” according to the landlords Legal & General.

The venue will operate over two floors, with external seating on the Market Square.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner options will be available on the menu, with the kitchen open from 9am until late in the evening.

A message on the Zapato Lounge Facebook page describes the interior as “comfortable, inviting, and a bit eccentric.”
