The Help To Buy scheme for first-time buyers has led to an increase in new home sales in Northamptonshire, according to national house builder Bellway Homes.

First-time buyer levels are at their highest since 2007, according to the developer. A recent survey also showed that 94 percent of new home buyers would buy a new home again.

Sales Director, for Bellway Homes Northern Home Counties Region, Chris Edginton said: “The research to come out of the latest NHBC National New Homes Survey is extremely encouraging.

“Two key factors that emerged from the survey included new homes are economic to buy and they are far more environmentally friendly than older properties.

“Houses today are built to a much higher specification and use significantly less energy than older homes, so people can make real savings. Additionally, because new homes are built to very high environmental standards they produce much less carbon dioxide emissions compared to older homes, which was found to be important.”

The house builder says it will be opening eight new sites in Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Northamptonshire by Christmas.
