The owner of Barbarella Hair, which currently has two premises in St Giles Street, has submitted a proposal to Northampton Borough Council to take over the vacant C’est la Vie unit.

The plans state the new unisex hairdressing salon, which would replace the two existing premises, would create 10 new jobs.

Ahead of a meeting of the planning committee next week, a report has been published by a council officer recommending the plans be approved.

The report states: The proposal would result in bringing a vacant unit back into Class A1 use without unduly impacting on neighbouring amenity or the character of the Derngate Conservation Area. The proposal therefore accords with the Development Plan and is acceptable.”

The proposed opening hours for the hairdressing salon is Mondays to Friday 9am to 8pm and Saturdays 9am to 5pm.

The application form from Barbarella Hair states the location will also provide make-up beauty services as part of a wedding package periodically.
