New student accommodation for trainee doctors is being opened by Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
The 12 two-bedroom flats are in Marina Park on the site of the trust’s former Princess Marina Hospital in Northampton.
The accomodation will be opened tomorrow by Dr David Heney Dean of Leicester University Medical School and Dr Bryan Timmins Director of Medical Education at NHFT. They will house medical students while they are working across NHFT on six-week placements.
Dr Alex O’Neill-Kerr, medical director at NHFT, said: “The new accommodation allows us to expand the student placements we offer across various specialities in the trust.
“Providing high quality education and placements is important for the NHS as it ensures we can deliver high quality compassionate care for patients in the future.
“We want to continue to be a centre of excellence for teaching and make Northamptonshire an attractive place to live and work for new doctors in the future.”
