A new restaurant has opened in Northampton town centre by the owners of an already popular business.
To celebrate the opening of Nuovo, just off Abington Street, owners Stewart and Sophie Wright held a pre-opening night with family and friends on December 9.
Guests were invited to try samples of the cicchetti menu as well as meat, cheese and homemade bread from the Nuovo deli throughout the evening.
Music was provided by four local musicians including pianist, Lincoln Noel, and saxophonist, Ryan Bachman.
Stewart said: “Our pre-opening rehearsal night was an excellent way for us to showcase what we’ve been working Nuovo. We had some excellent feedback on the cosy atmosphere and a really positive reaction to our cicchetti dishes.”
Nuovo has opened in the former Joe’s Diner unit and more recently La Dolce Vita and is accessed through an archway in Abington Street.
Mr and Mrs Wright also own the popular Italian restaurant Papa Cinos in Dychurch Lane.
They have employed Matthew Taylor - the former chef/owner of Brabenecs in Wellingborough Road - as the head chef at Nuovo.
During the opening night samples were cooked and served throughout the evening on the Tuscan forno-grill, the only one of its kind in the UK.
Mr Taylor said: “It was great to see the food going down so well.
“Some guests came back to the kitchen to try more dishes four or five times which was really good to see.”
Nuovo is now open to the public and taking bookings.
