A mum from Northampton has thanked a good citizen for a simple gesture that made her young daughter’s day.
Becky Eason contacted the Chron after we appealed with a quick post on our Facebook page for the owner of a lost cuddly monkey to come forward.
It came after an amazing 18,346 people saw the appeal and helped spread the word, resulting in a message getting to Mrs Eason.
It turned out that the monkey belonged to her one-year-old daughter, Chloe, who had named her favourite soft toy ‘Derek’.
She said: “She was out with her Nanny in the Kingsthorpe area when she must have dropped it. They were both a bit sad about it.
“Derek has now been safely returned to his owner.
“Thank you to you and the couple who found him.”
Derek had been lost several days ago and was placed by a pedestrian on a wall outside the Windmill pub in Welford Road.
He was noticed by several people but Julie Church, noting that Derek looked “much-loved” decided to take action and try to reunite him with his owner.
She said: “Thank you so much. He’s a lovely thing.”
