A stretch of the M1 in Northampton has been reopened following an accident to which an air ambulance helicopter was called this morning.
What police described as a “serious collision blocking the carriageway” happened at about 8am on Saturday on the M1 southbound between junctions 15a and 15.
The crash saw junction 15a closed by the emergency services and also the closure of a nearby stretch of the M1 so the air ambulance helicopter could land.
PC Sarah Whitehead tweeted afterwards: “The signs are clear! Tanking along in lane two or three is simply irresponsible and dangerous. #SLOWDOWN #FatalFour #BePatient”
She later added: “If impatience was a ticketable offence the Government would’ve made a killing today! M1 road ahead closed signs are VERY clear! #ThinkAhead”
