The mother of a former professional footballer from Northampton has published a book about her son’s life.

Gail Butcher has written ‘Butch The Wings of Football’ to celebrate the life of her son Richard who died in January 2011, aged 29, due to a heart condition.

The book charts the football career of Mr Butcher, who grew in Far Cotton and played for Northampton Town, Oldham Athletic, Rushden & Diamonds, Lincoln City, Kettering Town, Peterborough United, Notts County and Macclesfield Town.

Mrs Butcher has obtained quotes from Mr Butcher’s former managers and teammates.

All proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Richard Butcher Memorial Trust, which is aiming to raise enough money to pay for a football pitch and club house in Northampton.

Copies of the book, also in ebook format, are available to order on Amazon. For more information about how to purchase the book call Mrs Butcher on Northampton 453596.
