A mechanic who was found dead in an abandoned vehicle in a Northampton garage suffered a fatal head injury, an inquest heard.

The body of Rafal Bobela, aged 38, was found in a van near the YO Autocentre Motor Service garage in Horsley Road, Northampton, on October 22 last year.

An inquest at County Hall heard Bobela, who came to the UK from Poland in 2008, had been allowed to sleep in an abandoned vehicle at the garage.

In a statement read to the inquest, Mr Bobela’s sister Slawomir said he worked as a welder in Boston before getting a job in Northampton as a mechanic.

She said her brother had a young daughter in Poland from a previous relationship.

County Coroner, recording a verdict of accidental death, said: “For some reason it would appear he suffered a fall and a head injury led to his death.”
