The Great British Bake-Off judge dined at The Telegraph Inn in Moulton yesterday with seven others, some believed to be friends of her husband, who live locally.

Julia Story, the co-owner said: “The chef definitely felt a bit nervous when he was told who had arrived, there was a bit of pressure there.

“But she was lovely - she was happy to pose for pictures with staff and even signed a menu.”

Luckily, Mrs Berry was happy to praise the dishes served up by the chef - Stephen Tuck - which included an asparagus starter and a goat’s cheese tart, commenting “It was lovely.”

Telling delighted friends on Facebook, Mr Tuck said: “She’s twice as wonderful in real life as she is on Bake Off.”
