A man who sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl on a bus in Northampton has been ordered to complete 180 hours of unpaid work.

Tomasz Zoltowski, aged 33, got on a Stagecoach bus outside the White Elephant pub on January 23 and sat next to the teenage girl.

Northampton Magistrates’ Court heard Zoltowski attempted to make conversation with the girl and then started rubbing her thigh.

Julie Costello, prosecuting, said: “The girl was feeling very uncomfortable.

“He had his legs wide apart so she did not have much room to move.”

Ms Costello said the woman became visibly upset and another passenger then intervened and moved Zoltowski and sat next to the girl.

Zoltowski, of Moorfield Square, Southfields, Northampton, denied a charge of sexual assault but was found guilty after a trial.

District Judge Tim Daber, sentencing, said there was “clearly a sexual motive” to his actions.

Zoltowski was given a 12-month community order including completion of an alcohol treatment programme. He must also pay £710 costs.
