Man tried to conceal robbery in Northampton street using a leaflet


A man tried to rob a woman outside the Working Men’s Club on Sheep Street in Northampton town centre.

The attempted robbery happened on Friday, February 5 at about 1pm when the man approached the victim to ask for change for a parking meter.

A police spokeswoman said: “As she was looking in her purse he took a £10 note out and concealed what he was doing by putting a leaflet over his hand.

“The victim shouted at him and retrieved her money.”

The man is described as olive skinned, about 6ft, aged about 30 with a slim build and short dark hair.

He was wearing dark clothing.
