Man badly injured in hit-and-run after street party in Northampton

A man suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car following a street party for the Queen's 90th birthday.

The pedestrian was injured in the collision which happened in Birchfield Road, Northampton, sometime between 11pm and 11.20pm on Saturday (June 11).

The road had been closed during the day for a street party celebrating the Queen’s 90th birthday, and had only just been re-opened to traffic when the incident took place.

A police spokesman said: “The car, believed to be a silver estate, failed to stop at the scene and drove off in the direction of Park Avenue North.

“The pedestrian, a 46-year-old man, was taken to University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries.”
