A man has been arrested after five people were allegedly assaulted in Northampton this morning.

Police were called to Adnitt Road and Wantage Road in Abington following reports that a man had assaulted four men and one woman.

A witness told the Chronicle & Echo that one of the victims was a street cleaner.

A 29-year-old man arrested was at the scene arrested shortly after 9am.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the incident between 9.15 and 10am today (Tuesday, June 9).
