Police have said a major Northampton road will be reopened before 3pm following a car crash this afternoon.

Two cars were involved in the accident near Towcester Road Cemetery at lunchtime.

One driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the other driver was unhurt.

However traffic in the area has been moving very slowly as the roof of one of the vehicles had to be removed by firefighters, whose engines were blocking the road.

A police spokeswoman estimated Towcester would be fully open by 3pm at the latest.
