Largest unsigned acts festival '˜in the world' on the way to Northants in June

Thousands of revellers are expected to descend on Billing Aquadrome as a £10 three-day festival heads to Northamptonshire for the first time.

The Willow Festival, which claims to be the “largest musical festival of its type in the world” is due to feature more than 100 bands and solo acts looking to get ahead in the music industry, when it arrives at the tourist spot off Crow Lane between June 10 and 12.

The family event has been held in Cambridgeshire in previous years, where it has attracted more than 50,000 visitors each year.

A spokesman for the festival organisers said: “The Willow Festival exists to promote the best of new, emerging and unsigned live music artists and to help them realise a semi-professional or professional career within the music industry.

“The spin off is that the public are treated to a great weekend of live music covering all popular music genres including, rock, folk, funk, reggae, world music, jazz, punk, metal, country.”

The event will also feature rides, an “alternative shopping experience,” bars and a world food village.
