The Royal & Derngate is looking for talented children to join its professional cast in its production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

A co-production with Northern Stage and Royal Exchange Theatre, auditions will take place at the theatre on Monday, 7 July between 4pm to 9pm.

Director James Dacre is looking for girls and boys aged between six and 12 years old who must be no taller than five foot tall to play a variety of parts in this production of Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer prize-winning Deep South drama.

The young actors will be cast in two teams that will rotate between performances. The boys and girls need to have good movement, singing and acting ability. The ability to play an instrument would also be useful.

The theatre said auditionees “must be enthusiastic and have bags of personality.”

Rehearsals start on August 11, and children must be available for rehearsals and performances as scheduled until the show finishes on October 18.

More information about the roles and rehearsal dates is included in the audition registration pack.

Parents must pre-register, by Wednesday, July 2 6pm. Auditions will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and will include singing, lasting no longer than five minutes.

To register and get a timed slot to attend, download a registration form and audition notes from the theatre’s website (on the What’s On page for Cat On a Hot Tin Roof) or pick up a form at the theatre’s Box Office.
