The trip of a lifetime began, after months of meticulous planning led by Earp Head of Humanities, on July 4 when the group flew out to Kathmandu via Delhi.

A spokeswoman for the school said: “The trek to Base Camp is as beautiful as it is challenging and follows a route described by some as “the steps to heaven”.

“The photo opportunities of beautiful forests, foothills and Sherpa villages are endless and the group will have the chance to experience different cultures. The trip offers the chance to “view the top of the world” as well as offering the view of a different world.

“We are extremely proud of all the pupils and staff and can’t wait to hear all about this fantastic experience on their return,” she said.
