Jobs on offer as Primark holds second recruitment day for Northamptonshire distribution centre

The new warehouse at Islip, which covers 1.1 million sq ft, is set to create more than 200 new positions during 2016.

The discount fashion chain organised a recruitment event in March, which saw more than 500 people going to find out more about the new site and opportunities Primark had to offer.

The large turn-out resulted in an increase in the amount of applications received and candidates invited for interview.

But Primark bosses have announced they will be having another event for anyone who is interested in working at the distribution centre.

The open day is taking place from 10am until 3pm on Tuesday, May 17, at the Corn Market Hall in London Road, Kettering.

It will offer people the chance to find out more about the positions currently available at the distribution centre, with start dates between May and July this year.

A spokesman for Primark said: “We encourage anybody who is interested in discovering more about the positions available at the Primark distribution centre in Islip to drop into our open day on Tuesday, May 17.”

Alex Jelley, economic regeneration manager for Kettering Council, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this event.

“Although Kettering benefits from having a high employment rate, it also has a growing workforce.

“Kettering Borough Council is committed to working with partners, neighbouring authorities and the business community to promote and encourage local employment opportunities for its residents to help build a more diverse, dynamic and self-reliant economy; one which is not overly dependent on in or out commuting.”

The distribution centre is on track to be operational this summer.

Facilities for employees will include a café with hot and cold food service, a pool table, table football, WiFi access, a fitness room and 500 parking spaces.
