A family is appealing for help after a grandmother's whose mobility scooter was cruelly taken during celebrations for her grandson's seventh birthday.
Lynn Pitts, who cannot walk because of her heart and lung disease, was enjoying an evening in the White Elephant pub in Kingsley Park Terrace yesterday evening when the item was stolen from outside.
Her and family members had been celebrating her grandson's seventh birthday at around 5pm, having spent a day at the fair on The Racecourse.
When the family went outside to collect the scooter parked by the front door at 6.30pm, the scooter had gone.
"She was very upset," said husband Gerald, 57, of Abington.
"It feels like someone has stolen her legs.
"First off we thought it might be a joke. We thought kids had moved it around the corner."
Northamptonshire Police has urged anyone who saw anything suspicious outside the White Elephant pub yesterday (Monday, August 27) between 5pm and 6.30pm, to get in touch on 101.
