International magazine invent award just for Northamptonshire care home (which has its own pub)
A care home has been named the 'best in Northamptonshire' by an international magazine.
Global Pharma Magazine wanted to recognise Grangefield Care Home, in Northampton Road, Earls Barton, in their Social Care Awards 2017 but could not focus in on a category.
Instead, they created a new award, the 'Best Care Home in Northamptonshire' award, just so they could give it to them.
Grangefield Care Home for the elderly has only 20 beds but was one of 19 companies across the world to receive an award.
Nikul Odedra, owner of Grangefield Care Home, said: "We are over the moon to be included as a winner alongside such prestigious companies from around the world. We may be small but we have a big heart."
The pampered pensioners of Grangefield Care Home are treated to chiropody, massage therapy, hairdressing and even have their own in-house pub - the Resident's Arms.
Mr Odedra said: "We are different from other care homes in that we try and make each and every day special for our residents. We provide lots of exciting activities, regular events and outings and home made cakes, all served up by an amazing team of carers who genuinely go out of their way to make residents happy. We also spend a considerable amount of time and effort seeking feedback from both our residents and their relatives, which we use to help improve our service."
The award is part of the Global Pharma Magazine's 2017 Social Care Awards, which aims to recognise organisations for high levels of care, compassion and courage.
100 organisations from around the world were shortlisted and from these 20 went on to win awards in categories such as palliative care, autism, disability, nutrition and elderly care.
Companies from countries around the world received recognition, including England, Australia, USA, Belgium, Bermuda and Ecuador.
