A NEW section of Northampton’s long-awaited ‘north-west bypass’ could be built as part of plans for a housing development near Duston.

Developers Persimmon Homes and Barratt Homes have revealed plans to build 200 new houses on land between Harlestone Firs and the Lodge Farm Industrial Estate.

As well as new houses, the development would also see a small stretch of the north-west bypass built.

The new road would link up with a stretch which has already been built to join up Harlestone Road and Berrywood Road.

Speaking on behalf of Persimmon Homes and Barratt Homes, Stephen Bawtree, said: “The development, which would be named The Gateway, would help to significantly boost housing supply in the area.

“Main access to the site would be provided by an extension of the north-west bypass from a new roundabout which has already been constructed south of the Harlestone Heath Garden Centre.”

The plans will be on show at the Harlestone Heath Garden Centre in Harlestone Road, on Saturday, July 14 from 10am until 1pm.
