Plans for a huge 1,400 home development off a main road leading into Northampton have resurfaced, 10 years after they were first mooted.
Back in 2006, the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) began developing plans for a major housing scheme to the north of the A4500 Weedon Road.
However the estate, called Upton Lodge, never got started and with time passing, the planning permission lapsed.
The site in question was designated as a possible place for a large residential development in December 2014, as part of the controversial joint core strategy.
Now the HCA is coming back for another go and has enlisted global project management firm WYG to draw up plans for the land.
The new application proposes 1,400 houses, a new primary school, an area for a “local centre”, public open space, landscaping, internal roads and “associated infrastructure.”
The draft masterplan is now being displayed on a website for people to make comments on.
“We are keen to give local residents an opportunity to view the proposed plans and to comment on them before submitting an outline planning application to Northampton Borough Council,” reads a statement from WYG on the proposals.
“We invite you to view the plans and provide feedback.”
The western edge of the HCA’s new scheme would effectively join up with Barwood’s plans for up to 1,900 new homes west of Duston. If both were approved, the way would be paved for a sprawling 3,300 home development in the west of Northampton.

The closing date for feedback is Tuesday, October 25.
However WYG says “further information” on the plans will become available on its website from October 12, when a questionnaire will also be available.
