A hospice is inviting people to come along to an annual service to remember loved ones who will not be around this Christmas.

Every year, the Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice holds its Tree of Love service, which allows people to remember those who have died and cannot be here to celebrate the festive season with their friends and family.

The tree at the service will glow with hundreds of lights, each in memory of a life.

There will be two services this year, on Thursday, December 13, and Tuesday, December 18, both at the Cathedral of Our Lady and St Thomas, in Barrack Road, Northampton. Both of the services will start at 7.30pm.

Sue Bownass, of the hospice, said: “The Tree of Love service is possibly the most important event of the year. It brings together all those people who have lost loved ones, or who are thinking of a loved one, particularly at this time of year.”

Members of the public are being invited to sponsor a light for a loved one by printing and returning this slip.

The form can be sent – together with a donation the Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice – to Tree of Love, Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Manfield Health Campus, Kettering Road, Northampton NN3 6NP.
