Holiday Inn in Northamptonshire evacuated after workman cause gas leak


Drivers in Northamptonshire are being warned to expect delays on the A428 near Crick as firefighters are currently dealing with a gas leak at a Holiday Inn.

Firefighters were called to the grounds of the hotel, near junction 18 of the M1, shortly after 12.30pm on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Northants Fire & Rescue said the Holiday Inn had been evacuated and a 100m cordon had been put in place as a precaution.

The spokesman said the gas leak is believed to have been caused by workman in the grounds of the hotel. National Grid have been called out to isolate the gas leak.

Motorists planning to use the A428 in the Rugby/Crick area are being warned to expect delays.

Firefighters began a two-hour strike at midday on Tuesday.
