Gritters to hit the streets of Northampton tonight as Met Office forecasts snow and freezing conditions

Freezing conditions and snow are expected to fall across Northampton tomorrow.

According to the Met Office and the BBC, light snow will begin to fall in Northampton from around 8am in the morning (Thursday) and will continue throughout the day into Friday morning.

At around midday tomorrow the snow is forecast to be heavy.

The Met Office has also issued a yellow cold weather alert for Northamptonshire meaning that people should be alert in prearation for freezing conditions.

The Met Office predicts that the temperature will remain at one degree throughout the day tomorrow but has warned people that it will feel more like minus five.

Northants Highways confirmed that road surface temperatures are expected to be minue 1.8 this evening and that gritters will be out and about across the county from around 7pm this evening.
